HELP FOR PATIENTS AFFECTED BY PHILIPS RECALL
Philips recent recall of millions of CPAPs, bilevel PAPs, and ventilators sent shock waves throughout sleep medicine, and has resulted in sleep lab administrators and sleep clinicians looking for alternative sleep apnea therapies for their patients. Should you have difficulty sourcing replacement equipment in a timely manner, a provisional oral appliance solution is available; an immediate oral appliance could be provided and optimally calibrated for use during this temporary crisis. Once you obtain your replacement PAP device, this temporary appliance could then be utilized for either emergency or travel purposes. The customary fee in our office for a MyTAP temporary appliance is $500 and has a lifespan of 9-12 months with continuous use. During the next 6 months, while the PAP device recall issue is being resolved, we would like to be a part of the solution. Since there is no medical insurance coverage for this provisional therapy, for patients impacted by this recall, we will provide both the required consultation assessment and a MyTAP oral appliance for a reduced patient fee of $399. Up to $99 may be reimbursable from existing dental insurance for the consultation assessment. Dr. Viviano will also need to review patient X-rays, but these can be forwarded from your dentist at no cost to you. Click on mytap image to Watch video and find out more about the MyTAP.
If you are impacted by this recall and would like to proceed with a MyTAP, please provide your physician with the referral/prescription form and have them Fax it to our office.
