This weekend I had the pleasure of attending the annual "American Sleep and Breathing Academy" (ASBA) in Scottsdale, Arizona. I have to say, it was an absolute pleasure. It is their third annual meeting and I was so impressed that I decided to join the organization and make it an annual event on my calendar.
On the Dentistry side there was a mix of individuals, many relatively new to the field and some dating back to the very beginning such as Dr. Wayne Halstrom (developer of the Silencer appliance) and Dr. Don Frantz (developer of the EMA appliance). There were even some respiratory technologists that I thoroughly enjoyed conversing with. I understand that the plans for next year include much more for physicians and respiratory technologists which will make attending that much more rewarding. One of the highlights of the weekend for me was the warm camaraderie, as there was ample opportunity for discussion and sharing of ideas, which always makes this type of event that much more rewarding from both a professional and personal perspective.
Kudos to the co-organizers, Randy Clare, David Gergen and Alan Hickey for a Job Well Done!
