Imaginary Bad Breath ("Halitophobia")


"Halitophobics" range from constantly worrying about having bad breath and being obsessive regarding oral care and masking techniques, to going from specialist to specialist, spending decades in isolation, having their teeth extracted and even committing suicide.

Unfortunately, the current success rate in dealing with such individuals is less than favorable.  Treatment regimens for these individuals should include psychological and/or psychiatric counseling.
